In reading we are learning about parts of a book such as: title, pictures, where to begin reading, the difference between a letter and a word, understanding and retelling the story.
We will also be working on letter identification, letter sounds, sight words, rhyming words, segmenting words, and pointing to the words as we read them.  By the end of Kindergarten, students should be independently reading at
    level C.

During  Writers' Workshop, we will focus on writing a story with a beginning, middle and end.  Students are expected to draw a detailed picture that matches their story and stay on topic.
Other genres they will be exposed to include Procedural Writing, Report Writing and Response to Literature.
