• Question: How can I get in contact with Mrs. Yost?

Answer: The easiest way to reach me is by using the Class Dojo messaging feature. You can also reach me by email at jyost@nfschools.net. Please feel free to message me at any time, including evenings and weekends.

  • Question: How long should I be doing school work with my child during this social distancing period?

Answer: It is not expected that you spend the entire day doing school work with your child. I will be posting work that should about two hours complete. Make time for some fun! Play games, go for a walk, or bake together! Additional instructional time can be completed by reading together, discussing story elements (characters, setting, problem/solution, beginning, middle, end) and exploring the suggested websites.

  • Question: Can you suggest any additional fun learning activities?

Answer: Kindergarteners need a lot of movement. Free free to take frequent breaks to let your child play. Variety is very important. Instead of just writing words with paper and pencil - try building words with playdoh or magnetic letters. Practice letter and number writing by letting the kiddos write in shaving cream. Take the learning outside when the weather permits. Let them explore! Try to make a game out of learning. Instead of just reading their sight words - make a memory game out of the words. I will continue to share ideas on this webpage and on Class Dojo. Please contact me if you would like to discuss strategies for your individual child if needed.

  • Question: Do I have to turn in my child's work?

Answer: If possible, I would love to see the work your child is doing! The easiest way to send it to me is to take a picture of it and send it to me on the Class Dojo app. Working in a notebook would probably be the easiest way to keep all their work organized. You may be asked to turn in their work some time in the future, so definitely hang onto it.

  • Question: Can you do a Zoom video with the class?

Answer: Unfortunately, I am unable to do Zoom videos with the entire class. If you send me a video from your child, I will send a personal video back. I miss them so very much!

  • Question: I can't print out the worksheets. What can I do?

Answer: The activities I will be posting can simply be replicated on a blank piece of paper or in a notebook.
